Job summary

Seattle University invites applications for part-time Adjunct Faculty in the Biology Department for the 2026–27 academic year. Positions are temporary replacements for sabbatical leaves, teaching introductory and majors biology courses as assigned based on expertise and departmental needs. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned introductory and majors biology courses (e.g., BIOL 1610+1611, 1620+1621, 1630+1631).
  • Prepare lectures, assessments, and grading rubrics with timely feedback.
  • Contribute to undergraduate education and teaching excellence as part of a temporary sabbatical replacement.

Position Description

The Department of Biology at Seattle University invites applications for part‑time Adjunct Faculty positions for the 2026‑27 academic year, starting in September 2026, January 2027, and March 2027. These positions are temporary replacements for current faculty on sabbatical leaves. We are seeking instructors to teach introductory courses (BIOL 1610+1611, 1620+1621, 1630+1631), majors courses including genetics, anatomy and physiology, virology, and cell biology, and/or non‑majors courses on cancer biology or global health. Specific course assignments will be determined based on the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs. Ideal candidates will demonstrate expertise in a relevant field of biology and a commitment to undergraduate education and teaching excellence.

Compensation at a Glance

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
