Description
Under the general supervision of the Division Dean of Applied Science, Business and Technology (ASBT), the Adjunct Associate Professor of Business teaches organized classes primarily in the Business and Marketing disciplines. The primary responsibility is to teach up to 10 units (part-time) in the assigned discipline.
Responsibilities and Duties
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Instruct courses in Business, Marketing, Small Business, and Entrepreneurship in accordance with credit course outlines approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Advise and assist students in achieving course objectives. Evaluate student progress, notify students in need of counseling or tutorial assistance, and track student learning outcomes.
- Participate in curriculum review, modification, and assessment of student learning outcomes to ensure program success.
- Assist the Division Dean in collaborating with campus and community groups to provide relevant programs and courses.
- Participate in evaluating and revising course descriptions, outlines, and assessments.
- Coordinate with faculty on textbook and instructional material selection.
- Complete reporting procedures related to student evaluation, course reporting, and budget development.
- Assist in preparing required reports by providing necessary information.
- Attend departmental, divisional, and campus activities and events.
- Plan and complete professional development activities each semester.
- Participate in divisional committees as assigned.
- Perform other duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the Division, as assigned.
- Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's in business, management, administration, accountancy, finance, or marketing, or business education; OR Bachelor's in the above and Master's in related fields; OR equivalent.
- Demonstrated teaching experience.
- Sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience teaching postsecondary Business and Marketing courses, especially at community colleges.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to different student abilities, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds.
- Use of innovative teaching techniques, multimedia, and online instruction.
- Leadership in curriculum development and industry collaboration.
- Interest in online and distance education.
