Job summary

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) invites applications for adjunct Accounting instructors. Courses may be offered at 1000/2000 level across daytime, evening, and weekend slots on campus, online, or via livestream.

Adjuncts will train for the modality and collaborate with full-time faculty on course design and instruction. This is a pooled position with reviews as openings arise; compensation is $1,056 per instructional unit.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Accounting or CPA-qualified with a Bachelor’s in Accounting.
• Master’s in a closely related field with 3 years accounting experience.
• Verification of degree completion by time of employment with official transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Teaches courses at times and dates as assigned.
• Provides prompt, courteous feedback to students.
• Uses department-approved materials and syllabi for the courses taught.
• Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
• Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines.

Job description

Teach Accounting courses for the SLCC Accounting department. Courses may include any subject in which the adjunct is quali?ed, at the 1000 or 2000 level. Classes are offered in daytime and evening hours at any SLCC campus, and could include weekends. Possible delivery modalities may include on site, online, and livestream. If online or livestream are assigned, the adjunct will be trained on the modality. The adjunct will work closely with the full time faculty on course design and instruction.

This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.

This position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Teaches courses at times and dates as assigned. Is present, reliable, and prompt.
• Is responsive, respectful, and available to students inside and outside the classroom.
• Follows guidelines set forth by full time faculty.
• Gives students prompt, courteous, respectful, and helpful feedback on their work.
• Provides students with clear and fair expectations and grades accordingly. Uses department-approved materials and syllabi for the courses taught. Makes clear to students how assessments map to the course student learning outcomes.

1. Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.
2. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
3. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
4. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
5. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
6. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.
7. Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines.
8. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
9. Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as de?ned by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
10. Maintains professional and collegial behavior.
11. Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1-2 days).
12. Maintains professional appearance as de?ned by the discipline and/or College procedure.
13. Completes all required employee trainings.
14. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines.
15. Provides ADA accommodations as requested.
16. Other job related duties as needed.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for on-line only courses.

You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/ Instructor on a contract-to-contractbasis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time.

You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

1. Master’s degree in Accounting,
2. or
3. Bachelor’s degree in accounting with CPA from an accredited college or University,
4. or
5. Master’s degree in closely related ?eld and 3 years of accounting industry experience,
6. AND
7. Veri?cation of completion of degree requirements by time of employment with o?cial transcripts.

1. Non-teaching full-time (or full-time equivalent) work experience in accounting or related field.
2. College level teaching/corporate training experience.
3. Knowledge and experience in technology-enhanced instruction.
