Job summary

Rocket Lab USA in Long Beach, CA is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Technician II to support laser-based metal printing for Rutherford & Archimedes engines. This shift, 4-10 schedule starting in November, emphasizes safe operation, precise setups, and collaboration with Engineering.

You will operate EOS/SLM/DMG printers, calibrate equipment, inspect parts, and drive process improvements. A 2+ year manufacturing background and a HS diploma are required; benefits are strong and space hardware

Qualifications

• 2+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or testing experience.
• Proficient with hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
• Skilled in inspection methods: surface plate, calipers, micrometers, height gauge.
• Experience operating machine tools: vertical mills, lathes, media blasters, cranes, or forklifts.
• High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Uphold Additive safety measures - advocate for safe operations.
• Prepare additive print jobs with precise setups.
• Operate metal 3D printers (EOS, SLM, DMG) as specified.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, optical laser, electrical, and build issues.
• Calibrate 3D printers and interpret results with Engineering.
• Ensure conformance of part/build through inspection and print detail verification.
• Follow work orders, procedures, specifications, and test instructions with attention to detail.
• Perform preventative maintenance and collaborate with Engineering on improvements.
• Collaborate with Engineers on setup and fabrication of 3D prints and new hardware.
• Kick off issue tickets for non-conformances.
• Drive Additive Internal 5S and sustainability efforts.
• Utilize measurement tools to ensure quality inputs and outputs.
