Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real‑world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense.

At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose — and with people who want to make a difference. We’re not just developing advanced supermaterials — we’re about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made.

We’re entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators.

Additive Manufacturing Specialist
Position Summary

We are seeking an innovative and detail‑oriented Additive Manufacturing Specialist to spearhead our 3D printing initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing additive manufacturing processes to create high‑quality prototypes, tools, and end‑use production parts. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to identify opportunities where 3D printing can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of product design

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, modify, and optimize 3D CAD models specifically for additive manufacturing. Evaluate designs for printability, structural integrity, and material efficiency.
  • Oversee the daily operation of 3D printing equipment. Manage the end‑to‑end printing process, including file preparation, machine setup, printing, and post‑processing (e.g., support removal, sanding, polishing, heat treatment).
  • Research and select the appropriate 3D printing materials (e.g., polymers, resins, metal powders) based on project requirements, mechanical properties, and environmental conditions.
  • Perform routine calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on 3D printers and associated equipment to ensure maximum uptime and consistent print quality.
  • Conduct functional and mechanical testing on printed components to verify they meet engineering specifications and strict quality standards.
  • Partner with product design, traditional manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to seamlessly integrate additive manufactured parts into broader production workflows.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, manufacturing), or general science (e.g., chemistry) or a related field AND 1+ years of related experience …OR bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, manufacturing), or general science (e.g., chemistry) or a related field AND 3+ years of related experience OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience operating and managing industrial 3D printing equipment.

  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360) and additive manufacturing slicing/simulation software.

  • Deep understanding of various additive technologies (e.g., FDM, SLA, SLS, DMLS) and their respective advantages and limitations.

  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and process‑related issues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with advanced post‑processing techniques (e.g., CNC machining, chemical smoothing).
  • Familiarity with industry‑specific manufacturing standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100 for aerospace, or FDA regulations for medical devices).
  • Experience conducting Return on Investment (ROI) analyses for new additive manufacturing equipment and scaling production capabilities.
