Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design for complex machinery or precision equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD and PLM software; CREO and Windchill preferred.
• Strong understanding of powder handling, laser/optical, and motion control systems.
• Experience with additive manufacturing processes or powder-based systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Familiarity with FEM/FEA tools and computational fluid dynamics is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems for LPBF additive machines, including frames, motion systems, powder handling, and optical/measurement components.
• Create CAD models and manufacturing drawings for production.
• Conduct analyses to ensure reliability under operating conditions.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to integrate disciplines.
• Develop and validate prototypes through testing and iterative design improvements.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes suitable for high-precision and high-temperature environments.
• Ensure safety, regulatory, and quality standards throughout the design process.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during assembly, testing, and at customer sites.
• Maintain design documentation, BOMs, tolerances, and revision control.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance performance and reduce costs.
