Job summary

Commonwealth Medical Services seeks an experienced Addiction Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director for a comprehensive substance use treatment program in Danvers, MA. The role combines direct patient care with clinical leadership and oversight of advanced practice providers.

The program offers a flexible schedule (2–3 days per week up to full-time), a 239-bed detoxification and residential treatment setting, and an emphasis on multidisciplinary care and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• MD or DO required with board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatry.
• Fellowship training and/or demonstrated experience in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine.
• Board certification in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine preferred.
• Massachusetts medical license eligibility or licensure required or anticipated.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with substance use and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
• Provide psychiatric care within detoxification and residential treatment programs.
• Serve in Medical Director capacity and provide clinical leadership for the program.
• Provide clinical oversight and supervision of advanced practice providers.
• Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans.
• Manage psychiatric medications and monitor patient response to treatment.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, therapists, counselors, and other behavioral health professionals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
• Provide clinical consultation and guidance to the treatment team.
• Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and clinical program initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Help ensure services are delivered in accordance with applicable clinical and regulatory standards.
