Job summary

King County’s Department of Public Health - Jail Health Services is seeking a Jail Health Physician - SUD Lead to guide the development and implementation of a multidisciplinary substance use care program within the County’s adult jail facilities. The role blends direct patient care with quality improvement, medical oversight and program leadership across secure facilities.

The position requires board certification or eligibility in Family or Emergency Medicine, WA licensure, and experience in

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency program.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine; must become certified within 2 years of hire if not certified.
• WA State Medical License must be obtained prior to hiring.
• NPI number required prior to hiring; DEA registration required prior to hiring.
• Current BLS CPR certification with AED training required prior to credentialing.
• Minimum of 1 year direct addiction medicine care.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary care team with diverse populations.
• Valid WA driver's license or ability to travel across King County.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, manage, educate and counsel residents on a broad scope of health care issues.
• Perform minor procedures, order medications and refer to specialty care as needed.
• Provide women's health services including prenatal care.
• Lead addiction medicine care and oversee SUD multidisciplinary team.
• Develop patient education and clinical trainings for SUD care.
