Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Overview: Join a collaborative, patient-focused rehabilitation team dedicated to empowering individuals through occupational therapy. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to implement customized treatment plans that promote independence, mobility, and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy interventions based on individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Support patients in regaining skills related to daily living, cognitive function, mobility, and strength.
  • Collaborate with the rehab team to design engaging programs tailored to patient needs and capabilities.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques to reinforce treatment goals.
  • Participate in care planning meetings, staff conferences, and interdisciplinary discussions.
  • Ensure timely, accurate documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain therapy equipment, report repair needs, and ensure a safe, organized environment.
  • Uphold a high standard of compassionate, person-centered care.
  • Contribute to patient safety efforts, including assisting during emergency evacuations when needed.
  • Meet established productivity standards for patient care hours.

What You Bring:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (AOTA/ACOTE standards).
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Licensed or license-eligible in the state of practice.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet diverse patient needs.
  • Proficient in documentation and familiar with electronic medical records.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Compassion, creativity, and patience—especially when working with older adults.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, twist, and lift up to 75 lbs as needed.
  • Capable of working in various environments, including indoor/outdoor settings and therapy gyms.
  • Visual acuity for close work and mobility monitoring.

Work Style:

  • Flexible, dependable, and responsive to changing patient and facility needs.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
