Job summary

Ford’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team is seeking an engineer to serve as the technical authority for Rear View and Surround View camera features. You will drive requirements decomposition, cross-domain orchestration and a robust roadmap with Product and Digital Design teams.

You’ll lead quality through boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance and rigorous testing procedures, ensuring FMVSS111 and ISO-26262 compliance while guiding complex root-cause

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 3+ years designing and developing camera hardware or related software delivering human vision camera features.
  • 2+ years developing ADAS features using radars, cameras, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors or related vehicle systems.
  • 2+ years in system engineering: System V, functional decomposition, design analysis, requirements development, system integration, FMA analysis.
  • Strong leadership, communication, teamwork and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical authority for Rear View (FMVSS111) and Surround View camera features; lead requirements decomposition, cross-domain orchestration and roadmap definition with Product and Digital Design teams.
  • Develop feature requirements, boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, and test procedures to ensure robustness.
  • Ensure regulatory (FMVSS111) and functional safety (ISO-26262) compliance by partnering with the Automotive Safety Office and Office of General Counsel on hazard analyses and safety concepts.
  • Drive feature robustness through FMA and advanced validation (HIL/SIL/Vehicle); lead root cause investigations (8D/5-Why) and present solutions to leadership.
  • Collaborate with Product Design and Digital Design teams to define the roadmap and scope of Ford’s Camera Experience Features.

What you'll do...

Act as the technical authority for Rear View (FMVSS111) and Surround View camera features, leading requirements decomposition, cross-domain orchestration, and roadmap definition in collaboration with Product and Digital Design teams.

Ensure the robustness of our camera features by leading the development of feature requirements, Boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, and test procedures.

Ensure global regulatory (FMVSS111) and functional safety (ISO-26262) compliance by partnering with the Automotive Safety Office and Office of General Counsel to develop item definitions, hazard analyses, and safety concepts.

Drive feature robustness through Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) and advanced validation (HIL/SIL/Vehicle); lead complex root cause investigations (8D/5-Why) and present technical solutions to enterprise leadership.

Collaborate with Product Design and Digital Design teams to define the roadmap and scope of Ford’s Camera Experience Features, including the look and feel we want our customers to experience

You’ll have...

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering

3+ years of work experience with designing and developing Camera hardware systems or the software systems that deliver human vision camera features.

2+ years of experience developing features in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors and/or other related vehicle systems (e.g. body, electrical, chassis, powertrain, etc.)

2+ years of experience in system engineering including experience with the System V, Functional decomposition, design analysis, Concept, Logical and technology level requirements development, System integration and FMA analysis.

Strong leadership skills with a passion for quality and customer happiness

Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal and project management skills

Ability to work well independently and take initiative.

Even better, you may have...

Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Experience in authoring new system requirements/specifications

Experience with SysML / MagicDraw/Jama/Jira

Understanding of embedded hardware and software design

Experience with model based design (e.g. Matlab,Simulink,Stateflow, state machine development, etc.)

Verification proficiency (e.g. design verification methods, data acquisition/analysis, hardware-in-the-loop, etc.)

Knowledge of virtual validation methods (e.g. HIL,MIL, SIL, etc.)

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
