Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, define requirements, and create analysis methods for ADAS Perception Systems that leverage vision, radar, and other sensors to help Ford vehicles sense the world.

You will translate team needs into clear specifications, perform root cause analysis, own DFMEAs, and collaborate with vendors and the hardware group to ensure verification methods meet the requirements and KPIs for availability and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a systems engineer decomposing and authoring both functional and performance requirements in automotive, aerospace, defense, or related industry.
• Proficiency using Requirements Management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, or Polarion.
• Familiarity with requirement formats (EARS/INCOSE) and ASPICE levels.
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead ad-hoc teams.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Perception System requirements.
• Translate feature team needs into clear, testable and traceable technical specifications.
• Initiate/support requirement peer reviews with both internal and external partners.
• Partner with vendors and hardware team to refine sensor packaging requirements.
• Define and establish performance metrics for the Perception System, including KPIs such as availability and accuracy.
• Work with internal & external partners to ensure verification methods are aligned to requirements.
• Own Failure Mode Analysis actions for Perception, including authoring DFMEAs and corrective actions.
• Explore and propose system architecture modifications to decrease application sensitivity.
• Perform root cause analysis on current generation systems to identify potential new requirements.
