Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking a Special Needs Swim Instructor to teach children aged 4 months to 12 years in a warm, 90-degree indoor pool environment. Instructors provide individualized lessons tailored to each child’s needs and safety considerations.

Applicants should have prior experience with children with special needs and will receive swim-specific training, curriculum instruction, and ongoing support in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special needs required.
• Experience with autism, Down syndrome, sensory processing disorders, ADHD or similar conditions preferred.
• Ability to stay calm, patient and attentive in dynamic environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and lesson plans.
• Reliable transportation and consistent availability.

Responsibilities

• Provide swim instruction using the Goldfish Swim School curriculum while adapting lessons to individual needs.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups with children with special needs.
• Maintain a safe, calm, and encouraging learning environment.
• Ensure student safety at all times.
• Track and document student progress and communicate with parents.
• Attend required trainings and in-service meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
