Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Support planning and coordination of a program and its activities.
  • Ensure individual needs of participants are met within program guidelines.
  • Utilize sound judgment and discretionary skills in accordance with the Gateway Region YMCA policies.
  • Maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals including staff, parents, volunteers, and program site administration, demonstrating strong public relation skills.
  • Ensure YMCA policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain an environment that ensures participant’s safety and well-being.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Work with the director to determine current needs for the program.
  • Ensure implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions.
  • Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agendas.
  • Ensure ADA compliance with federal, state, local, and YMCA regulations.
  • Support individual needs of youth while remaining within approved program parameters.
  • Implement reasonable accommodations to programs and activities as needed.
  • Review, understand, and implement Association IEP Summary Support paperwork.
  • Assist with transportation support as needed.
  • Develop and implement adaptive camp curriculum.
  • Provide opportunities to build self-help and independent skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurately prepare and provide proper records, documentation, and files.
  • Communicate professionally and accurately with YMCA staff, participants, and families.
  • Ensure youth receiving support is fully included in all site activities, as much as is reasonable based on documented ability.
  • Ensure approved level of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 (staff/youth) supports are maintained as recommended.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School/GED/University completion in field or related field (based on position).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Ability to use typical business software and office equipment.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
