Asphalt Green is seeking an Adaptive Sports Assistant Instructor to support weekend adaptive classes for neurodivergent and developmentally disabled youth, at our Upper East Side and Battery Park City locations.

You will help lead activities, adapt activities to individual needs, and promote physical, social, and emotional development in a friendly, inclusive environment. Prior experience with diverse abilities and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred.

• Experience working with children with diverse abilities in recreational or educational settings.
• Experience in supporting inclusive or adaptive activities.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Job Description

As an Adaptive Sports Assistant Instructor, you will support the lead instructors in delivering adaptive classes tailored for neurodivergent and developmentally disabled kids. Your role involves assisting with class activities and helping to foster physical, social, and emotional development in a variety of programs. Classes are held on weekends at both our Upper East Side and Battery Park City locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist lead instructors in delivering adaptive class activities across various programs, including Playground Pathways, Martial Arts, Soccer, Swim and Gym, and Yoga.
• Support participants in engaging with class activities, adapting to individual needs, and ensuring a positive and inclusive experience.
• Help set up and clean up equipment and materials for each class.
• Collaborate with lead instructors and other staff to ensure smooth class operations and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Experience working with children, particularly those with diverse abilities, in a recreational or educational setting.
• Experience in supporting inclusive or adaptive activities.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in adaptive physical education, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
