Job summary

HSES-HIGH SHOALS ELEMENTARY seeks an Adaptive SpEd Paraprofessional to support teachers and students in an inclusive classroom. You will work with students individually or in small groups, reinforce instruction, and help with classroom management.

Qualifications include a two-year degree or higher preferred, HS diploma with GACE Parapro, and Paraprofessional certification; experience in licensed child care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two year degree or higher from an accredited institution preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent and passed the GACE Parapro Assessment required.
• Must hold a valid paraprofessional certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission or be able to obtain such certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in supervising learning activities and supporting students.
• Provide instruction as guided by the supervising teacher; use games/stories to reinforce skills.
• Assist teachers in checking and evaluating students' work.
• Help manage student behavior and maintain classroom order.
• Assist in preparing lesson plans and pre-planning sessions.
• Assist in diagnosing student math and communication skills.
• Prepare instructional materials and copy/laminate items; file paperwork.
• Coordinate with media center staff and set up equipment.
• Prepare instructional reports; maintain attendance records and seating.
• Perform monitoring duties in hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, and bus duty.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
