Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an approved program for special education - general curriculum or completed 27 semester hours in the education of students with disabilities.
• Must be eligible or possess a valid Collegiate Professional License from the State of Virginia.
• A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
• Employ special educational strategies and techniques to develop skills in language and cognition.
• Instruct students using phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition to meet needs.
• Teach behaviors through a positive behavioral support system aligned with IEPs.
• Modify curriculum with varied instructional techniques and technologies.
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction and observation.
