Job summary

Waterbury, CT-based organization CJR seeks a Part-Time Physical Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning, behavioral, and emotional needs. Under the Director of Education and Student Services, you will plan engaging PE activities aligned with IEPs and assess progress. Hours: Monday–Friday 8:30am–12:00pm (17.5 hours/week).

Pay: $27–$35 per hour. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Connecticut certification; experience teaching students is preferred; PBIS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education is required.
• Connecticut certification or willingness to pursue is required.
• Experience teaching students is preferred.
• Ability to develop a positive classroom culture/environment for diverse needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct a balanced program of instruction with demonstration and work time.
• Provide differentiated assessment strategies to support student learning.
• Establish behavior guidelines and PBIS-aligned procedures.
• Use technology to support instruction for special education students.
• Collaborate with administrators and other professionals to implement IEPs.
• Develop and interpret achievement testing and assessments.
• Collaborate with teachers to support students with behavioral and academic challenges.
• Assist in transition planning for students returning to various educational settings.
• Provide educational case management for identified students as needed.
• Be an active member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
