Job summary

AHRC New York City is seeking a Brooklyn Blue Feather-Special Education Physical Education Teacher for a full-time position in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. The role requires delivering adaptive physical education to students with developmental disabilities.

You will plan lessons aligned to NYS standards, collaborate with staff, and support IEP goals in a 10-month program with a summer session. NYS certifications preferred; BA/MA in SPED/PE is expected.

Qualifications

• BA or MA in Special Education/Physical Education.
• NYs Teacher Certification preferred; eligibility for certification required.
• Ability to work with children with developmental disabilities and autism.
• Experience developing adaptive physical education programs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of developmental disabilities and their impact on performance.
• Assess students' needs and develop individualized physical education programs.
• Develop an Adaptive Physical Education Curriculum for students with autism and other disabilities.
• Prepare daily lesson plans aligned to NYS standards and IEP goals; progress reports as needed.
• Coordinate staff interactions with students during PE activities.
