Job summary

AHRC New York City is seeking a dedicated Middle/HS Special Education Physical Education Teacher to deliver an adaptive PE program for students with developmental disabilities and autism. You will design individualized plans, align activities to NYS standards, and document progress to support IEP goals.

This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a 10-month program plus a 30-day summer session.

Qualifications

• BA or MA in Special Education/Physical Education; NYS Physical Education license or eligibility.
• Experience working with students with developmental disabilities and autism helps.
• Ability to develop adaptive physical education curricula aligned to standards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of developmental disabilities and impact on performance.
• Assess students and develop individualized PE programs.
• Develop Adaptive Physical Education Curriculum for students with autism and other disabilities.
• Prepare daily lesson plans aligned to NYS Core Standards and IEP goals.
• Coordinate with staff to supervise PE activities and student progress.
