Position Details

Full Time (1.0 FTE). This position will service multiple buildings.

The Adapted Physical Education (APE) teacher is an educationally trained professional who can assess individual students and develop, adapt, and implement specialized physical education programs in the motor domain.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Pick up district-issued computer in August 2025.
  • Attend Induction Academy I for teachers new to D300 in August 2025.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within resource limits.
  • Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourage students to maintain classroom behavior standards and report student compliance and behavioral issues to administrators.
  • Employ various instructional techniques and media, considering location limitations and student needs.
  • Implement the district's educational philosophy and goals, with a preference for reading background, Response to Intervention, and Common Core Standards.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Evaluate student progress regularly.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policies.
  • Uphold school rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours as needed.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and relevant educational discussions.
  • Collaborate with staff on instructional planning and material selection.
  • Contribute to co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Maintain communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Establish cooperative relations with colleagues and the community.
Qualifications

Illinois licensure with physical education endorsement(s) is required. Teamwork, collaboration, reflection, and a desire for continual improvement are essential.
