It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. **Description of Work**The primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with the para-professionals and licensed professionals to design, fabricate and modify adaptive equipment and devices, inclusive of, but not limited to, special protective devices (i.e. helmets, arm and leg wraps, cuffs, mittens, restraints, etc..), mobility and positioning aids (i.e. wheelchairs, walkers, bathing/toileting chairs, wedges, belts, mechanical lifts, etc...), prescribed footwear and orthotic devices. This individual will also repair and deliver the aforementioned items as needed or requested by division and department staff and participate in inspection and inventory management of the same.
