Job summary

The position emphasizes collaboration with SPED and general education teams, ongoing progress monitoring, and maintaining accurate records to support student growth and physical development.

Qualifications

• Requires Michigan teaching certification for PE and/or students with disabilities.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge of adapted physical education instructional strategies.
• Ability to modify activities/equipment based on individual student needs.
• Understanding of IEPs and special education practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide adapted physical education instruction to students with disabilities.
• Develop and implement PE activities for varying physical/developmental needs.
• Modify activities, equipment, and instruction to support participation and success.
• Follow IEPs and educational goals related to motor development.
• Monitor and document student progress and performance.
• Create a safe, inclusive PE environment.
• Collaborate with SPED/GENED teachers, therapists, admins, support staff.
• Communicate progress with staff and families as appropriate.
• Encourage engagement, independence, and physical development.
• Maintain accurate student/instruction records.
• Ensure safe use of activities/equipment.
• Support students in fitness, motor skills, coordination, mobility, healthy activity habits.
• Participate in meetings and school activities.
• Follow district policies and SPED requirements.
