Job summary

P17 Solutions is seeking a Junior Adaptation Specialist to join our TFDM team at the FAA. This 100% on-site, full-time role is based at the William J Hughes Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. You will translate operational needs into site-specific TFDM configurations and support deployment at FAA terminals.

You will collaborate with ATC, engineers, and operations to validate configurations, manage changes, and ensure safety and compliance. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, CS, Systems Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–4 years experience for Junior; 5–9 years for Mid Level; travel as needed.
• Ability to translate operational needs into technical requirements and configurations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ATC, engineers, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for TFDM adaptation activities at assigned terminal sites.
• Develop, manage, and validate site-specific TFDM configurations (gate/stand layouts, surface routing, flight data rules, alerting parameters).
• Collaborate with ATC, Technical Operations, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to gather and interpret data and requirements.
• Use adaptation tools and configuration management systems to input, update, and version-control site adaptations.
• Participate in pre-deployment assessments, dry-runs, and readiness reviews to ensure adaptation accuracy.
• Support SIT, JSAT, and OT&E efforts.
• Maintain documentation of adaptation decisions, processes, and version histories.
• Provide training, guidance, and technical support on adaptation concepts.

P17 Solutions is seeking a Junior Adaptation Specialist to join our Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a 100% on-site, full-time position at the William J Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The Junior / Mid-Level Adaptation Specialist shall provide site-specific configuration, integration, validation, and maintenance support of TFDM capabilities at terminal facilities. The Adaptation Specialist is a subject matter expert responsible for translating operational requirements and local air traffic control procedures into facility-specific configurations (adaptations) that enable safe, efficient, and tailored deployment of the TFDM system. This position plays a critical role in ensuring successful deployment and transition of TFDM capabilities into operational use at FAA terminal facilities, while maintaining alignment with national standards and program baselines.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for TFDM adaptation activities at assigned terminal sites.


• Develop, manage, and validate site-specific TFDM configurations (e.g., gate/stand layouts, surface routing, flight data rules, alerting parameters).


• Collaborate with Air Traffic Control (ATC), Technical Operations, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to gather and interpret operational data, procedures, and local requirements.


• Use adaptation tools and configuration management systems to input, update, and version-control site adaptations.


• Participate in pre-deployment assessments, dry-runs, and readiness reviews to ensure adaptation accuracy and completeness.


• Support system integration testing (SIT), joint site acceptance testing (JSAT), and operational testing (OT&E) efforts.


• Ensure compliance with enterprise-level architecture, safety, and system engineering standards.


• Assist in root cause analysis of adaptation-related issues and coordinate resolution strategies with engineering teams.


• Maintain documentation of adaptation decisions, processes, and version histories for audit and knowledge management purposes.


• Provide training, guidance, and technical support on adaptation concepts to local and national stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience


• Jr Level: 1-4 years experience; Mid Level 5-9 years experience


• Ability to interpret operational needs into technical requirements and translate them into functional system configurations.


• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to interface with air traffic controllers, engineers, and program stakeholders


• Ability to travel to FAA facilities for site surveys, adaptation workshops and deployment support as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with TFDM, TFMS, STARS, ASDE-X, or other FAA automation platforms.


• Experience with configuration management tools, geospatial layouts, or data adaptation platforms.


• Strong knowledge of terminal facility layouts, aircraft movement, and ATC procedures.


• Experience in aviation systems adaptation, air traffic operations, or system integration roles.


• Prior experience working with or within the FAA's TFDM, TFMS, or ERAM programs.


• Familiarity with FAA's implementation lifecycle (e.g., waterfall, Agile), Acquisition Management System (AMS), and Joint Resources Council (JRC) processes.


• Experience using FAA's adaptation development environments, such as URET or TDDS.


• Knowledge of enterprise geospatial systems such as ARCGIS or AutoCAD for airport layouts.


• Ability to lift up to 20lbs

Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement

• Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).


• Has resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.

Relocation Requirement

Relocation expenses are not offered. Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Work Environment
