Job summary

Mercy is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to provide direct patient care under physicians' orders. The role requires RRT credential, NBRC certification, and a state RCP license; PALS is required for ER staff.

You will consult with physicians on therapy effectiveness and serve as an advanced resource for nursing and medical teams. No prior experience is required, though clinical readiness is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC approved respiratory care program.
• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license per state requirements.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential; PALS may be required in ER.

Overview

Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care, according to physician's orders. Consults physicians on effectiveness of therapy. Acts as an advanced resource person for physicians and nursing on respiratory care. Performs duties as assigned.

Position Details:

• Education: Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Licensure: Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Experience: None.
• Certifications: Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.
• Other: Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. Plus, pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally. Equipment Used: All appropriate respiratory care devices.
