Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff by taking vital signs, aiding patient hygiene, and keeping the unit clean and safe. You will help stock supplies, operate hospital equipment, and perform routine clerical tasks as needed.

The role requires CNA or LVN certification (or current enrollment with clinical experience), English proficiency, and BLS at hire, with weekend/holiday availability and strong patient-care skills.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a CNA are not required to obtain it at this time
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English
• Must be Certified Nursing Assistant or LVN, or enrolled in accredited nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA)
• Approved workplace violence responder training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
• Ability to work weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• The Nursing Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel by taking and recording vital signs
• Assists patients with hygiene and elimination and maintains a clean, safe unit environment
• Assists with stocking unit supplies, operates hospital equipment as directed, and performs routine clerical tasks
• Assists with other related duties as assigned
