Qualifications

• CCHT certification is required.
• 18 months of dialysis experience is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CMS-approved state or national certification requirements must be met within the state/CMS timeline.
• Effective communication skills—verbal and written.
• Must pass Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; accommodations considered.
• Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting and moving patients.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over.
• Ability to assist with moving machines/equipment up to 200 lbs.
• Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs to heights of up to 5 feet.
• Willingness to travel between assigned facilities and locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned inpatient patients under the direct supervision of a Hemodialysis RN.
• Report and document incidents, complaints, problems, patient observations, and unusual findings to the RN.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment and participate in QEP, QAI, patient satisfaction, and process improvement activities.
• Set up and prime equipment for hemodialysis, CRRT, and PD therapies when competent and directed.
• Set up, test, and verify dialysis machines are safe for treatment.
• Welcome patients and inquire about their wellbeing.
• Obtain and report pre-treatment, post-treatment, and reinfusion vital signs and weights.
• Report cannulation difficulties and monitor patient response to dialysis therapy.
• Document treatment information in patient records, including EMS and ACES.
• Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for UF goals, treatment time, sodium modeling, and UF modeling.
• Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled, including narrow venous limits.
• Collect, label, and deliver specimens to the laboratory.
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide prescribed interventions.
• Discontinue treatments, obtain hemostasis, apply dressings, and evaluate patients before discharge.
• Comply with company policies, the Code of Business Conduct, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Assist with assigned projects and perform other duties as assigned.
