Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in Montgomery, AL is hiring a Dialysis Patient Care Technician to assist with inpatient dialysis sessions under the supervision of a Hemodialysis RN, ensuring safe and effective treatment in accordance with FMCNA policies.

You will monitor patients, document treatments, set up and prime equipment, collect specimens when needed, and help maintain a clean, safe environment while supporting quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline.
• Effective communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Ishihara Color Blindness test required; the company will consider accommodations if needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direct supervision of the Hemodialysis RN for assigned patient(s) in the dialysis suite.
• Report and document new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN.
• Promote a safe and clean working environment and support QEP/QAI activities.
• Set up and prime equipment as directed by the Fresenius Nurse for renal replacement therapies.
• Ensure dialysis machine is set up, tested, and safe for treatment.
• Welcome patients and report any concerns to the FMCNA RN.
• Obtain pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight; report unusual findings.
• Report cannulation difficulties to FMCNA RN as permitted by state requirements.
• Document patient treatment information in EMS/ACES.
• Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for UF goal, treatment time, Na modeling.
• Ensure safety alarms are enabled including NVL 160.
• Collect, label, and deliver specimens to the laboratory per policy.
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and intervene as ordered by physician or RN.
• Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and complete documentation for termination of treatment.
• Report any changes to FMCNA RN.
• Assess patient prior to end of venous access and apply dressings; report unusual findings.
• Review compliance with Code of Business Conduct and company policies; follow laws.
• Assist with projects as assigned by supervisor or supervising RN.
• Other duties as assigned.
