Job summary

TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati is seeking an Acute Care Technician for Med Surg Urology to join the 14AB unit. This full-time day-shift role supports RN staff, performs essential patient care tasks, and helps maintain a safe, efficient workflow in a busy hospital setting.

Ideal candidates will have a high school education, BLS certification, and experience as an STNA/PCA/ACT. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success in this unit and shift.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification required per position.
  • Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.
  • Experience as an STNA, PCA or ACT strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under RN supervision; maintains competency in trained skills, completes assignments on time, and seeks clarification when needed.
  • Maintains a safe, clean environment by reporting hazards, following Infection Control policies, completing safety event reports, and adhering to safety and emergency procedures.
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and team members; reports patient information and assignment issues promptly; documents observations accurately; collaborates with the healthcare team and uses the chain of command appropriately.
  • Supports unit operations by performing supply, equipment, and environmental tasks; reports shortages or equipment problems and ensures supplies/equipment are ready for the next user.
  • Demonstrates accountability and commitment to self-growth; identifies areas for improvement and supports organizational and unit changes.

Acute Care Technician - Med Surg Urology

Full Time Day Shift - TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital

Location

Work Schedule
  • Full Time Days - (72 hours bi-weekly)
  • 6:30am - 7:00pm
  • Every 3rd weekend rotation
  • Holiday rotation

14AB is a medical unit with 22 beds. Our patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients with varied medical diagnoses including complications from diabetes, pneumonia, cellulitis, encephalopathy, and remote telemetry. We also care for renal and urology surgery patients including those who have had a nephrectomy, prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and those with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI). Any patients admitted to the hospital who require peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatments, have PD care managed by a trained 14AB nurse. This unit supports the growth and learning of new grads. 14AB provides the opportunity to master time management, and a variety of skills such as suprapubic catheter exchange, continuous bladder irrigation, vascath removal and peritoneal dialysis

Job Requirements
  • 2 years High School Education
  • Age 17 with work permit
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Reading and math ability appropriate to the position
