TriHealth's Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking an Acute Care Tech II to join the Observation Unit in Cincinnati, OH. This on-site, part-time role supports nurses and clinical staff, delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients with high acuity, and helps with patient flow and safety.

You will perform basic patient care tasks under RN supervision, maintain a safe environment, and assist with documentation and communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of high school education.
• Age 17 with work permit.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Reading and math proficiency appropriate for role.
• Experience with multi-line phones, call systems, and pagers.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN-supervised basic patient care tasks.
• Support patient flow and communication via phones and pagers.
• Maintain clean, safe care environment; report hazards and complete safety reports.
• Initiate emergency calls per hospital protocol (Code Blue, Fire, Special Alert, Rapid Response).
• Support documentation and medical record maintenance, and downtime procedures per TriHealth standards.
• Communicate respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team; escalate concerns as needed.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are available, functional, and properly maintained.

Job Overview

As an Acute Care Tech II in the Observation Unit, you will support nurses and clinical staff in delivering high‑quality, compassionate care to patients with high‑acuity needs. Your work ensures safe, efficient operations and contributes directly to patient outcomes and the overall care experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and document basic patient care tasks under RN supervision while maintaining required competencies.
• Assist with patient flow and communication using multi‑line phones, call systems, and telecommunication devices.
• Maintain a clean, safe care environment; identify and report safety hazards and complete required safety event reports.
• Initiate emergency calls, including Code Blue, Fire, Special Alert, and Rapid Response per hospital protocol.
• Support documentation, medical record maintenance, and computer downtime procedures per TriHealth standards.
• Communicate respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members, escalating concerns as needed.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are available, functional, and properly maintained.
