POSITION SUMMARY:

The Division of Acute Care Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is seeking a full-time academic intensivist at the rank of assistant or associate professor. This role involves clinical coverage of ICU, EGS, and Trauma services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For higher ranks, typically requires a record of creative work, professional publications, and recognition as an authority in the field.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible to a Chair, Division Chief, or other appropriate administrator.
• Engage in teaching, research, service, and administrative activities.
• Provide academic advising.
• Represent the university, college, or department as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Board Certified or Eligible in general surgery with additional qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clinical Duties: Provide ICU care, including day and night coverage, admitting complex trauma, emergency general surgery, transplant, surgical oncology, OB/GYN oncology, ENT, and other cases. Conduct patient assessments, diagnostics, and treatment planning.
• Teaching Duties: Educate residents and medical students, actively participate in training programs, and contribute to educational activities.
• Research Duties: Participate in research projects and quality improvement activities.
• Administrative Duties: Complete required training courses timely.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.
