Job summary

The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE is seeking an Acute Care Surgeon to join a collaborative team of 20 surgeons and APPs and to participate in a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship program. The role includes trauma care within a Level I Trauma Center network and opportunities for teaching and research.

Ideal candidates will be MD/DO with fellowship in Surgical Critical Care, board certification or eligibility, and a strong interest in educating residents and medical students.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent required.
  • Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care completed.
  • Board certified or board-eligible in Surgical Critical Care.
  • Strong interest in teaching residents and medical students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide surgical critical care for high-acuity trauma and non-trauma patients.
  • Lead and participate in teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Engage in clinical research and medical education initiatives.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.

The Division of Acute Care Surgery (ACS) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha is seeking a dedicated Acute Care Surgeon to join our collaborative and supportive team of 20 surgeons and a robust group of APPs.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collegial team committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care in a dynamic and high-volume environment. Our hospital partner, Nebraska Medicine, is an American College of Surgeons-designated Level I Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, managing:

  • 3,100+ trauma-related admissions annually
  • 2,100+ emergency general surgery cases per year
