Many UHP physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents, fellows, and medical students.The UMKC SOM accepts students directly out of high school for a six-year combined baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine program.The UMKC SOM Graduate Medical Education program supports over 30 residencies and fellowships.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected candidate will be involved in covering acute care general surgery, trauma and the surgical intensive care unit.University Health is an ACS Level 1 and State of Missouri designated Level 1 trauma center and serves the population of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area with a complex mixture of rural and urban trauma.We are also the leader in disaster management for the Kansas City area. The candidate would also be expected to care for patients with an elective general surgery practice.
The preferred candidate should be board certified/board eligible in General Surgery. Board certified/eligible in Surgical Critical Care is preferred but not a requirement depending on experience. General surgery coverage of University Health Lakewood campus is available. Current Surgical Critical Care Fellows are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Surgery at UH and the University of Missouri – Kansas City is entering a period of growth and academic evolution.The preferred candidate should be interested in an environment of academic professional development, specifically addressing the clinical, teaching, and research missions.
Our surgeons teach and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students.The position will include an academic appointment at the University of Missouri Kansas City at the assistant/associate professor level (depending on experience and qualifications).
