Job summary

Durham VA Healthcare System is seeking highly skilled Registered Nurses for Acute Care. You will lead in management of complex patient care, work with interdisciplinary teams, and ensure high quality, safe care in a dynamic environment.

Qualified candidates will have nursing licensure, essential critical-thinking, and the ability to coordinate care with allied health professionals in a busy acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by accrediting bodies.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted nursing license in a US state or territory/ DC.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient-centered nursing care on an acute care unit.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients.
• Monitor telemetry and respond to changes in patient status.
• Administer chemotherapy and other treatments per competency.
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and post-discharge needs.
• Document care in the electronic health record per standards.
