Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Alaska RN license.
• Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by an Associate's degree in nursing.
• BLS certification is required.
• ACLS, PALS, or additional certification and/or continuing education may be required.
• Requires creative thinking, prioritizing, and flexible problem solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient needs across physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational and discharge planning.
• Formulates a plan of care including discharge planning in collaboration with patient and family.
• Implements the plan through direct patient care and coordination of the health care team.
• Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises plan as needed.
• Documents care and patient response in the medical record, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
• Participates in professional development and shared leadership activities.
• Contributes to improving patient outcomes and quality indicators.
• May supervise staff and workflow in the department.
