Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital on the Washington University Medical Center campus is the largest hospital in Missouri, recognized as a Magnet Hospital for nursing excellence. The Acute Care Medicine unit provides care for patients with complex conditions and participates in a multidisciplinary team approach to treatment and discharge planning.

On this 38-bed unit with a 4/5:1 patient ratio, RNs are supported by managers, lead charge nurses, an advanced practice nurse, and a full care team to deliver

Qualifications

• Nursing Diploma or Associate's degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
