Job summary

George Washington University Hospital is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist for the Med-Surg unit on the day shift. You will evaluate and treat a diverse inpatient population, developing evidence-based plans of care to improve mobility and safe discharge readiness.

You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams, document care in the EMR, and contribute to teaching, research, and quality initiatives in an urban tertiary care setting.

Qualifications

• Current DC Physical Therapist license.
• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent accredited PT degree.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS preferred.
• Prior acute care/med-surg clinical experience.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate med-surg patients and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Deliver evidence-based PT interventions to optimize mobility and function.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on care plans.
• Educate patients and families on mobility, safety, and discharge needs.
• Document assessments, goals, and progress in the EMR system.
• Participate in quality improvement, teaching, and research initiatives.
• Contribute to safe discharge planning and coordination of post-acute services.
• Supervise or mentor students as appropriate in the academic environment.
