Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide personal care and maintain a safe patient environment on day shifts. You will support RN/LPN with planned care and document patient information accurately.

Qualifications include CNA certification and CPR/BLS upon hire, with EMT-B or CMA/RMA or MA program accepted as alternatives. Prior acute care experience is preferred; 80 clinical hours in a relevant program are expected for enrollment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of acute health care experience preferred.
• CNA certification required or equivalent per VDHP guidelines.
• CPR/BLS certification required upon hire.
• EMT-B or CMA/RMA or MA program considered.
• Currently enrolled in LPN or RN diploma/degree with at least 80 clinical hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to hospital patients and maintain a safe, clean environment.
• Follow plan of care under supervision of RN/LPN and document accordingly.
• Assist with treatments and procedures as competency permits (e.g., vital signs, enemas, sitz bath).
• Stock supplies, manage equipment, and support team members and students.
• Ensure patient privacy and comply with safety standards in care delivery.

Education

CNA certification (VDHP)

EMT-B or NREMT equivalent

CMA/RMA certification or MA program

LPN/RN program with 80 clinical hours (enrolled)
