Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and maintaining a clean, safe unit. You will stock supplies, operate hospital equipment, and handle routine clerical tasks as needed.

Required qualifications include basic medical terminology, English proficiency, ability to work weekends/holidays, CNA certification or enrollment, and current BLS. Valid workplace violence training within 30 days of hire is also expected.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• CNA certification or enrolled in accredited nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a CNA are not required to obtain it at this time.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (AHA).
• Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Assist with stocking unit supplies.
• Operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned.
