Job summary

Glendive Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patients through direct care, teamwork, and compassionate interactions in an on-site acute care setting in Glendive, MT. This PRN, hourly role involves working under RN/LPN direction to ensure safe, high-quality care.

You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, meals, vital signs, and basic clinical tasks, with opportunities to participate in unit meetings and ongoing education. A current BLS and a CNA-related credential are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • CNA license preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant course completion or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, toileting, and skin-care checks.
  • Support mobility needs: repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and ROM exercises.
  • Ensure clean gowns, fresh bedding, and tidy rooms during shift.
  • Assist with meals, feeding, and providing water and nourishment.
  • Obtain vital signs, I&Os, heights, weights, and collect specimens.
  • Assist with nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice/heat therapy, enemas, and delegated tasks.
  • Support point-of-care testing, collect EKGs, and place patients on cardiac monitors.
  • Round frequently and respond promptly to call lights.
  • Maintain safe environments and compassionate interactions.
  • Provide dignified end-of-life and post-mortem care.
  • Communicate clearly with nursing staff and provide end-of-shift reports.
  • Participate in orientation of new employees and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Complete duties like stocking supplies, checking warmers, and general upkeep.

Nursing Assistant - Join a Rural Healthcare Team and Truly Make an Impact!

Location: On-site | 202 Prospect Dr, Glendive, MT 59330 | Acute Care Department

Employment Type: PRN, Non-exempt, hourly (bi-weekly pay)

Minimum Commitment: To maintain PRN status, employees must work at least five (5) shifts every three (3) months, including:

  • One (1) weekend shift per quarter
  • One (1) holiday shift per year

As a Nursing Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our patients through direct care, teamwork, and hands‑on comfort measures—helping create positive patient experiences during some of their most vulnerable moments.

What You’ll Do

You will work under the direction of an RN or LPN and contribute to safe, compassionate, and effective patient care, including:

Patient Care & Daily Living
  • Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, toileting, and skin‑care checks.
  • Support mobility needs, including repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and ROM exercises.
  • Ensure clean gowns, fresh bedding, and tidy rooms throughout your shift.
  • Assist with meals, feed patients as needed, and provide fresh water and nourishment.
Clinical Support
  • Obtain vital signs, I&Os, heights, weights, and collect specimens.
  • Assist with nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice/heat therapy, enemas, and other delegated tasks.
  • Support point‑of‑care testing, collect EKGs, and place patients on cardiac monitors.
Patient Safety & Experience
  • Round frequently and respond promptly to call lights.
  • Maintain safe environments and competent, caring interactions.
  • Provide dignified end‑of‑life and post‑mortem care.
Teamwork & Professionalism
  • Communicate clearly with nursing staff and provide thorough end‑of‑shift reports.
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Complete additional duties such as stocking supplies, checking warmers, and general workspace upkeep.
  • Follow incident reporting and chain‑of‑command procedures.
  • Attend unit meetings and educational opportunities for continuous growth.
What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma preferred.

  • Current BLS certification required.
  • CNA License or Medical Assistant License preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb stairs, and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Must safely lift/move up to 50 lbs using proper technique and lift equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of physical activity.
  • Ability to manage physical and emotional stress.
  • Potential exposure to common hospital environmental risks.
  • Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
