Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner with ICU focus to join our inpatient team in Texas. You will provide direct patient care, have prescriptive authority, and work under a supervising physician to manage admissions, daily rounds, and critical care procedures.

The role requires ACNP-BC/ACNPC-AG/NNP-BC certification, TX RN and NP licenses, BLS/ACLS, and 1 year or less of experience preferred. This is a full-time on-site opportunity with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege; Texas APRN.
• Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
• Board certification as Acute Care NP (ACNP-BC), ACNPC-AG, or Neonatal NP (NNP-BC).
• BLS and ACLS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
• Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
• Prescribes or recommends medical drug therapies or related treatments; performs procedures following approved protocols with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
• Formulates and implements comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and standards of care.
• Counsels patients and families about medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
• Maintains records detailing treatment plans and outcomes; initiates timely consultation and referral.
• Performs invasive procedures specific to scope of practice as delegated by supervising Physician.

Procedures include, but not limited to: PICC, Central Lines, A-Lines, intubations, extubations, thoracentesis, and lumbar puncture.

Job Summary

The NP Intensivist Medicine is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as independent providers by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice. Intensivist Medicine providers work in critical care settings. They manage patients by rounding, performing procedures, and handling hospital admissions and discharges.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
• Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
• Prescribes or recommends medical drug therapies or related treatments. Performs procedures following approved protocols with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost. Recommends interventions to change behavior linked to health risks.
• Formulates and implements comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and standards of care. Collaborates with physicians and team members when appropriate. Evaluates patient's response to health care and the effectiveness of care.
• Counsels patients and families about medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions, with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
• Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice or expertise.
• Provides consultation level services for conditions/problems related to the Provider’s specialty and training.
• Performs invasive procedures specific to scope of practice (and knowledge of the provider) as delegated by supervising Physician.
• May conduct hospital rounds, assist with admissions and discharges, and provide on-call support.

• Knowledge of information and techniques is needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer
