Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (NP-AC) to deliver comprehensive patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings, including diagnosis, treatment and consults under the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

This role collaborates with physicians and the interprofessional health care team, conducts physicals, orders tests, and prescribes medications as permitted while educating patients about their health and prescribed therapies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Two years of RN/ APRN clinical experience.
• Texas RN license and APRN Acute Care licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnosis, treatment and consultation as part of a care team.
• Perform physicals, order tests, and prescribe medications as allowed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
• Promote preventative care and patient education.
• Act as a clinical resource and participate in interdisciplinary rounds.
