The Division of Hospital Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NPs and/or PAs) to deliver medical care at HUP CEDAR satellite location. This full-time night position follows a 7 nights on/7 nights off rotation. Responsibilities include night admissions and cross-covering patients on the Hospitalist service. Training will be provided for new graduates.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care according to established protocols, utilizing evidence-based practices in collaboration with the team.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, documenting evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations in electronic medical records.
- Identify yourself properly to patients and families, clarifying the Physician Assistant role if necessary.
- Work within your scope and refer to the supervising physician when outside of scope or as directed.
- Perform interventions specific to your patient population as per written agreements.
- Participate in quality improvement processes to meet care and service standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism and serve as a role model within the healthcare team.
- Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on patient status.
- Address patient and family concerns, creating a supportive therapeutic relationship.
- Provide education, counseling, and instructions regarding diagnosis, treatments, medications, and preventive care.
- Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
- Precept PA students and other healthcare learners.
- Identify and refer patients/families to community resources as needed.
Credentials
- Adult Gero Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Master's Physician Assistant
- Current licensure or eligibility in Pennsylvania
- Eligible for credentialing by the medical board
- Active BLS/ACLS certification
Education/Experience
- Master of Science in Nursing or Master's in Health Sciences with Physician Assistant certification
- CRNP must be reviewed and approved by the Credentials Committee and Medical Board; National Board Certification required.
