Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 36-hour workweek on a 12-hour shift schedule in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit. You will provide individualized nursing care to acutely ill adults and collaborate with Virtual Nurse partners to ensure coordinated patient care.

Qualified candidates hold an Iowa RN license, with BLS certification within six weeks of hire and Mandatory Reporter training within three months.

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license.
• BLS within six weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training within three months of hire.
• Team-based patient care delivery and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Practices safe patient handling techniques.
• Evaluates assigned patients and provides ongoing treatment.
• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices).
• Initiates emergency support measures (CPR).
