Job description

Regardless of where you work within the company, you’ll be helping provide protection and peace of mind when our customers need it most. This role will report to the VP, Risk Management. This role will be responsible for the Company’s strategic risk appetite (SRA) covering key performance measures including earnings, capital, and profitability. The role will partner extensively with ERM members, ERM leadership team, Finance, Corporate Actuarial, and the Business Units. This is a high exposure role and provides the opportunity to collaborate with individuals at all levels across the Company. This position will manage an actuarial student.
    Responsibilities:
  1. Support Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) oversight and due diligence
  2. Lead the analysis of the PLRe block (off-shore reinsurance)
  3. Collaborate with the business to understand upcoming regulatory environment changes and its impact on the Company
  4. Lead efforts to enhance the SRA
  5. Coordinate, manage and communicate analysis of scenario analysis and stress testing to senior management
  6. Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Business Units to understand risks and impact drivers of the business plan
  7. Own Economic Solvency Ratio (ESR) and support Insurance Capital Standards (ICS) workstreams
  8. Support Annuities related workstreams (pricing review, VM-21, hedging, etc…)
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  1. Degree in actuarial science, finance, or related field
  2. FSA required
  3. 8+ years of relevant experience in the life insurance industry preferred
  4. Working knowledge of Statutory and US GAAP accounting
  5. Experience with Embedded Value (EV) analysis
  6. Experience analyzing Statutory capital and RBC in the life insurance industry
  7. Experience with ESR and ICS preferred
  8. Strong excel and data management skills
  9. Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics
  10. Strong analytical skills with proven ability to solve problems
  11. Understanding of Life and Annuity actuarial concepts
  12. Ability to work collaboratively across functions to obtain information, build consensus and deliver results
  13. Passion for delivering solutions that meet customer needs

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $130,000 to $170,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance].
