Job summary

Cover Genius is seeking an Actuary for the Americas team to lead pricing support, segmentation and portfolio management across its growing insurance products. You will collaborate with underwriters and internal stakeholders to propose data-driven changes and optimize value.

You will analyze pricing reviews, monitor book performance across product verticals, and build dashboards with data science teams to support strategic decisions and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Data Science.
  • Associate or Fellow Qualified actuary.
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in the property & non-life insurance industry.
  • Strong technical, analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong SQL and Excel skills. Programming skills in R and/or Python desirable
  • Proven ability to foster and develop relationships with key external and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate data to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to independently take initiative on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Produce pricing, risk management and product recommendations.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of new products through initial pricing and underwriting guidelines.
  • Support insurance partnerships with rate development reviews and loss ratio monitoring.
  • Collaborate with Data, Platform, and Data Science teams to design and develop products.
  • Provide insights to stakeholders to support relationships with partners and carriers.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach with stakeholders and address concerns.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes to address inefficiencies and risks.
  • Develop skills in data and modelling software to support pricing and dashboards.
  • Build and own dashboards for market segments to monitor loss ratio.

About The Role

As an Actuary within our Americas Team, you will play a key role in pricing support, segmentation models, and portfolio management to provide recommendations in support of our growing range of insurance products. You will work closely with our internal stakeholders to recommend innovative solutions to our partners, as well as external stakeholders such as underwriters to discuss portfolio results and propose changes.

To drive success in this role, you should be naturally curious about our insurance products and the suite of available data, leveraging your analytical skills to drive high impact changes in our products. You will perform pricing reviews and monitor the book of business across product verticals and underwriters with a clear goal of optimizing value for Cover Genius.

Regular cooperation with our Insurance Product, Compliance, Data & Analytics, Customer & Claims and Partner Services teams is essential to guarantee operational excellence, cost efficiency, and a positive impact on CG’s profitability, program sustainability and end customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize knowledge of actuarial pricing methodology and concepts to produce pricing, risk management and product recommendations
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new products through initial pricing and underwriting guidelines
  • Support the insurance partnerships teams with ad-hoc and scheduled reviews of rate development, loss ratio monitoring and product development stages
  • Work closely with the Data, Platform, and Data Science Teams to design and develop our unique insurance products
  • Provide insights to internal and external stakeholders to support insurance partners, internal insurance carrier and reinsurer relationships
  • Demonstrate a positive and proactive approach with stakeholders and address their concerns
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve processes to address inefficiencies and risks
  • Develop skills in relevant data and modelling software to contribute for development and implementation of best practice in pricing, modelling and dashboards.
  • Build and own dashboards for different market segments to monitor loss ratio
What You Will Bring

  • The cash compensation range for this role is $115,000- $145,000. Compensation will vary based on experience.
