Job summary

Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group USA is seeking a Senior Analyst in Statistical Reporting & Insurance Analytics to support actuarial reserving, pricing, and regulatory reporting. This role collaborates across actuarial, operations, data management, and technology to ensure accurate, timely submissions and data integrity within Guidewire/Solartis environments.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field and 3–7 years of P&C analytics experience, with strong SQL and Excel

This role develops and delivers statistical reporting submissions required by state regulatory agencies, rating bureaus, and industry organizations while also supporting actuarial and business operations through data analysis, reporting, automation, and quality assurance initiatives.As a member of the Actuarial team, which includes Pricing, Reserving, Insurance Analytics, Catastrophe Modeling, and Statistical Reporting, this position works closely with actuarial, operations, technology, data management, and external vendor partners to ensure accurate and timely reporting, data integrity, and continuous process improvement. The role also contributes to MSIG USA's ongoing analytical transformation through automation and system enhancement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesStatistical Reporting and Regulatory Compliance (40%)Develop, validate, and deliver components of MSIG USA's approximately 250 recurring statistical reports submitted to state regulatory agencies, rating bureaus, and industry organizations.Coordinate reporting activities between internal stakeholders and external compliance reporting vendors, including Perr & Knight.Support both ongoing business-as-usual reporting requirements and the migration of statistical reporting processes to new policy and claims administration systems.Serve as a liaison between regulatory reporting vendors and technology teams to ensure accurate maintenance of state taxes, licenses, fees, and reporting requirements within policy administration systems.Review statistical reporting output for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.Submit data to appropriate regulatory agencies and bureaus, investigate reporting exceptions, and resolve data validation errors.Maintain reporting control logs and documentation to ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and regulatory requirements.Perform resubmissions as necessary until reports are accepted by external reporting entities.Support reporting requirements including:ISO Verisk Commercial Lines Reporting (CSP, SCP+, Financial Calls)Statistical Agent Association (SAA) ReportingNational Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) ReportingIndependent Bureau ReportingExcess & Surplus (E&S) Lines ReportingBusiness Analytics and Reporting Development (20%)Develop new reports, analytical models, and data queries utilizing internal and external data sources.Support actuarial, underwriting, claims, finance, and management teams with data-driven insights that contribute to profitability, growth, and operational effectiveness.Assist in pricing, reserving, underwriting, claims, credit, and financial analysis initiatives.Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and data accessibility.Collaborate with Data Management, Data Operations, and Technology teams to automate manual reporting processes and enhance reporting capabilities where business value and return on investment are demonstrated.Systems Development, Data Requirements and UAT Leadership (20%)Serve as a subject matter expert for statistical reporting requirements related to policy and claims administration systems.Support the development and documentation of business requirements for system enhancements, regulatory reporting needs, and break-fix initiatives.Participate in cross-functional projects involving Guidewire, Solartis, and internally developed policy and claims administration systems.Lead or support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities for statistical reporting functionality within system implementations and enhancements.Validate system changes and reporting outputs to ensure compliance, accuracy, and alignment with business requirements.Collaborate with Technology, Operations, and Actuarial stakeholders to identify and resolve reporting issues.Data Quality, Process Improvement and Operational Support (20%)Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance reviews across multiple reporting processes.Maintain reporting documentation, procedures, and workflows.Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and data governance.Assist with ad hoc reporting and analytical requests from business stakeholders.Monitor reporting trends, identify anomalies, and recommend corrective actions when appropriate.QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related quantitative field required.Progress toward professional actuarial designation is a plus.Experience3–7 years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance, actuarial support, statistical reporting, regulatory reporting, insurance analytics, or a related analytical discipline.Experience working with insurance data, reporting systems, and regulatory reporting requirements.Experience supporting system implementations, data projects, or reporting automation initiatives preferred.Technical SkillsExperience querying and analyzing large datasets using SQL or similar tools.Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced functions and data analysis capabilities.Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance operations, policy administration systems, and claims systems.Familiarity with statistical reporting requirements, regulatory reporting processes, and insurance bureau submissions.Experience with reporting, business intelligence, or data visualization tools preferred.Exposure to Guidewire, Solartis, or similar policy administration systems preferred.SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000.00-90,000.00 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only.
