Job summary

Builders is seeking an Actuarial Pricing Manager who will lead pricing strategy development and model enhancement. The role collaborates with Underwriting, Finance, Product and senior leadership to ensure profitability and market competitiveness.

The position oversees rate indications, portfolio performance, and targeted actions while mentoring actuarial analysts and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or related field or equivalent experience.
• Six+ years of actuarial pricing experience in property & casualty.
• ACAS or FCAS designation.
• Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management.
• Proficiency in actuarial modelling tools and analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute pricing strategies to support objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Lead rate indication development using loss trends, projections and profitability goals.
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify pricing optimization opportunities.
• Lead design and enhancement of pricing models.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Product, Distribution, Claims and leadership on pricing initiatives.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead and support rate filings with supporting documentation.

The Actuarial Pricing Manager leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of pricing strategies to achieve profitability and growth objectives. The Manager is responsible for overseeing rate indications, pricing models, and portfolio performance analysis, while collaborating with Underwriting, Finance, Product, and senior leadership to ensure pricing adequacy and competitiveness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute pricing strategies that support business objectives, optimize profitability, and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Lead rate indication development, incorporating loss trend analysis, exposure projections, and profitability objectives to inform pricing decisions.
• Monitor portfolio performance and proactively identify opportunities for pricing optimization and targeted corrective actions.
• Lead the design, development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of actuarial pricing models.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Product, Distribution, Claims and other cross-functional partners to support product development and strategic pricing initiatives.
• Communicate analytical findings, pricing strategies, and recommendations clearly and effectively to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
• Lead and support rate filings including the preparation of supporting documentation and responses to regulatory inquiries.
• Lead, mentor, and develop actuarial analysts and senior analysts, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
• Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive and high-performance team environment that encourages innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Six or more years of actuarial experience, with a strong focus on pricing; experience in property and casualty with an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
• Skill in leadership and stakeholder management, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence outcomes across the organization
• Proficiency in actuarial modeling tools, programming languages, and analytical platforms, including SQL, Python, R, SAS, and Excel
• Experience with predictive modeling, advanced analytics, and data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
• Skill in problem solving, analysis, communications and presentations with the ability to clearly articulate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, dynamic and fast-paced environments while managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality results
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and function-specific actuarial, analytical, and business software applications
