Job summary

Encova Insurance seeks a Principal, Actuarial & Analytics Methods & Modernization in Columbus, OH. This role leads modernization efforts, governance, and practical deployment of new actuarial methods and tools, partnering with pricing, reserving, analytics, and data teams to deliver tangible business impact.

The ideal candidate has deep Property & Casualty actuarial experience, ACAS/FCAS preferred, 8+ years across multiple areas, and strong documentation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• ACAS/FCAS strongly preferred.
• Deep Property & Casualty actuarial experience required.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible actuarial experience across multiple functional areas.
• Broad understanding of actuarial methods and insurance operations.
• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in parallel.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Actuarial & Analytics Center of Excellence, providing both thought leadership and hands-on execution support across pricing, reserving, analytics, data, and related functions.
• Research and evaluate emerging actuarial techniques, analytical methods, software platforms, and industry best practices, and assess their applicability and value to the organization.
• Design, build, test, and help deploy new actuarial methodologies, models, tools, and templates, working collaboratively with impacted teams to ensure solutions are usable, scalable, and adopted.
• Serve as an enablement and consulting resource to functional teams, strengthening capability and consistency while not owning day-to-day production responsibilities.
• Lead Actuarial and Analytics governance efforts, including methodology standards, documentation, review processes, and alignment with internal, regulatory, and professional expectations.
• Operate through influence rather than authority, leveraging dotted-line relationships with Actuarial and Analytics leaders while prioritizing work through alignment with the SVP, Actuarial & Analytics.
• Maintain strong actuarial and technical credibility, remaining current on actuarial standards, analytical techniques, and economic developments, and selectively advancing innovations that provide clear, tangible value.
