Job summary

Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan invites motivated students to join our team as an actuarial intern (P/C & Life). You will receive hands-on training, support from managers and mentors, and participate in day-to-day operations within actuary-related projects.

Summer interns take part in a series of events including Intern Meet & Greet, Farm Visit, Lansing Lugnuts Day, and Capstone Luncheon designed to build skills and professional connections across the Farm Bureau Family of Companies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing actuarial science major or minor.
• Has passed at least one exam offered by the Casualty Actuarial Society or the Society of Actuaries.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint desired.
• Experience with programming and database languages such as Python, R, SQL.

Responsibilities

• Gain an understanding of key insurance functions through on the job training and development.
• Collaborate with department staff to contribute on various processes and projects.
• Assist department managers with day-to-day tasks and procedures.
• Undertake special assignments as instructed by department manager.
• Build relationships with department stakeholders and contribute toward company and department goals.
