Job summary

Group 1001 is seeking a college student for a 12-week actuarial internship in the Life and Annuity Actuarial Department, based at our Zionsville, IN Corporate Office. The internship will run from May 17 to August 6, 2027.

Input data and assumptions into actuarial models, set up models, and produce reports to support management and regulatory needs. Work in a hybrid home-office setting with Excel VBA and SQL/database tools exposure.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, finance, economics, math, physics, engineering or related field.
• At least one actuarial exam passed.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Exposure to financial modeling.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong time and project management skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Excel (including VBA) and exposure to database tools (Microsoft Access, SQL, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Input data and assumptions into actuarial models and analyze results.
• Set up models and run them in a production environment.
• Produce model reports for management and regulatory needs.
• Improve data gathering and information flow processes.
• Ensure controls over actuarial processes.
• Perform peer reviews of reports and outputs.
• Collaborate across the organization, emphasizing model efficiency and effectiveness.
• Participate in special projects.
